This is a specialized position working for Pinellas County’s Destination Marketing Organization also known as Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VisitSPC) and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. This position is responsible for leading sales efforts, building relationships with clients, and strategically promoting St. Pete-Clearwater as an ideal location for various types of gatherings, contributing to the economic growth and tourism development of the region. This position is considered a pivotal role in driving business and revenue to St. Pete-Clearwater by attracting meetings, conventions, and events.

What Will You Do?
Plans, assigns, trains, supervises, and evaluates the work of support staff including creating goals, objectives, and accountability, developing individual development plans, and conducting performance appraisals.
Solicits new and repeat business through a proactive sales approach.
Prepares, implements and monitors annual sales, travel and department advertising budgets.
Communicates with stakeholders/hotel partners regularly regarding market activities, sales missions, and tradeshows.
Works with area hotels to assist with new bookings/sites and securing contracts.
Develops marketing and sales strategies and negotiates contracts.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with strategic partners.
Manages the Sales Team, sets team goals and analyzes market trends, provides training for new Sales Managers.
Manages all Customer Relationship Management (CRM) functions; including creation and maintenance of accounts, contacts, events, reports and communication follow up.
Manages internal processes for preparing and processing CRM updates, communications, and reporting.
Manages internal processes for preparing and delivering invoices to partners.
Assists the team with coordination of external communications to clients and site inspections.
Conducts post event follow-up with clients and partners to ensure satisfaction.
Generates new business opportunities and builds and maintains relationships with key partners and customers.
Works with the Business Development Marketing Manager to develop, prepare, and coordinate marketing plans, promotional packets, ads, sponsorships, and/or other promotional events, as necessary.
Prepares and presents updates on sales activities and performance to the Meetings team, the Tourist Development Council and VisitSPC leadership.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
What Do You Need?
Experience: Professional experience that includes two (2) years of responsible management or supervisory experience in hospitality management or a related field.
Degree: Hospitality management or a related field
Eight years’ experience as described above.
Associate’s degree and 6 years of experience as described above.
Bachelors’ degree and 4 years of experience as described above.
Masters’ degree and 2 years of experience as described above.
Doctoral degree and some experience as described above.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.
Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Highly Desirable
Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of group sales principles, practices, and procedures.
Advanced knowledge of and experience with governmental policies and procedures.
Skill in Microsoft products and the ability to use and maintain Simpleview (customer relationship management tool).
Skill in authorizing payments, securing goods, securing equipment, setting budgets, and administering budgets.
Ability to research, identify, and provide strategic direction in planning sales initiatives throughout the United States.
Ability to efficiently communicate and work well with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
Ability to hire, supervise, train, schedule, and discipline employees.
Ability to increase group meetings in Pinellas County.
Ability to exercise discretion and judgment on a consistent basis.
Ability to promote and maintain effective departmental, inter-departmental, and public relations.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to accomplish goals.
