The Linux Systems Engineer – Staff collaborates closely with the Infrastructure and Desktop teams to maintain, improve, and oversee Storage, Linux, and Backup Platforms while documenting processes, assisting with Desktop user support, and resolving trouble tickets.

Job Summary:

• Proficiency with storage systems such as NetApp and Tintri.
• Providing support for Linux and Windows systems both locally and globally.
• Extensive experience in deploying new physical and virtual instances of Linux or Windows.
• In-depth understanding of Module Infrastructure.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting VMware vCenter and ESXi issues.
• Addressing user issues with Windows, Ubuntu, Alma Linux, Rocky Linux, and Red Hat/CentOS Linux.
• Supporting the SCM team and Engineering with Windows and Linux-based applications.
• Familiarity with FlexNet license servers.
• Monitoring and resolving alerts for Linux-based and Windows-based systems across local and remote sites.
• Knowledge of maintaining/creating Puppet modules.
• Configuring Linux LDAP clients and troubleshooting NFS-related automount problems.
• Resolving local Desktop/Laptop support issues.
• Understanding of Desktop Inventory tools, Antivirus software, and Office 365.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Patching.
• Understanding of Backup Tools. 

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

• Seven or more years of experience in Linux, Windows, and VMware Administration roles.

Preferred:

• Experience in storage administration including NetApp, Tintri, SAN, NFS, and CIFS.
• Familiarity with Backup Administration tools such as Rubrik.
• Proficiency in Puppet modules.
• Experience in creating Kickstart profiles for Linux.
• Knowledge of FlexNet License Management.
• Experience in compiling GNU or open-source software.
• Familiarity with CAD/EDA tools.
• Some networking knowledge is beneficial.
• Good understanding and experience in MS Windows management.
• Proficient in Desktop Tools.
