Position Overview

We are currently searching for a Data Analyst with a superior skillset in the areas of SQL, business analytics, and Microsoft Power BI.  This key position will support the Commercials division with both predictive and prescriptive analytics in the areas of procurement, sales, and consumer behavior.  The role will rely on effective collaboration with IT, FP&A, Procurement and Sales teams.  We organize business information into five layers: semantic, data, intelligence, analytical and visual.  The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and maintain the analytical layer of business information, that being the curation of SQL queries, functions and objects necessary to capture metrics and key performance indicators, identify business trends, and create forecast models.  Additionally, this position will focus on standardizing and blending data from disparate sources and across multiple business units in support of merger and acquisition activities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and maintain the analytical layer of business information and analytical processes with fastidious documentation of standard operating procedures.
  • Apply data storytelling methodologies to articulate findings and recommendations to various audiences in visually appealing and easily consumable presentations.
  • Develop a strong familiarity with the technology architectures used by the Integrated Data Warehouse, up and downstream information systems, and future optimization platforms.
  • Apply the foundational schemas of information science as defined by the Director of Business Analytics to develop standard protocols the tools by which end-users will interact with business information.
  • Support the Business Analytics team by developing and maintaining reusable SQL queries, functions, and database objects necessary for Business Intelligence data models and visualizations.
  • Assist the Director of Data Architecture with the requirements for a relational data store and multi-dimensional repository which will become the primary data source for future BI and FP&A reports.
  • Develop and optimize data analysis methodologies and models specifically targeting the cloud-based Microsoft Power BI and Azure SQL database environments.
  • Perform inferential deep-dive analysis on items of interest or curiosity that appear during daily activities and present findings of note to the Director of Business Analytics.
  • Complete data standardization and categorization tasks in support of merger and acquisition activity.
  • Fulfilling ad-hoc report requests and as-needed support for systems and tools, e.g. CRM, ERP, BI.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience with developing queries in SQL.
  • 3 - 5 years of business analytics experience.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience with Business Intelligence visualization tools (preferably Microsoft Power BI).
  • Advanced Microsoft applications experience.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of organization.
  • Ability to drive a cross-functional internal team through the change management process.
