Position Overview

We are searching for a Strategic Sourcing Leader with strong procurement, financial, analytical and negotiation skills.  Reporting to the Corporate VP of Category Management, this high profile, high impact position will be an individual contributor that leads key strategic sourcing projects.  The role will interface with the Category/Product Management team regularly.  Through key initiatives, the role will conduct market analysis, conduct sourcing/RFPs, lead negotiations and strategic sourcing.  The role will also be accountable for implementation and tracking of sourcing activities.  In addition, the role will contribute as a team member of smaller sourcing projects to ensure best practice and continuity on all sourcing activities.  

Responsibilities Include:

In addition to traditional strategic sourcing functions which include steps such as presentation writing, data analysis, baseline development, model building, RFP development, bid management, negotiations, offer analysis and scenario development, this role requires the Director to have an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and create opportunities to help the organization reduce and/or avoid cost while minimizing risk.  Selected candidate will interface with suppliers, internal Category team, Commercial leadership team and key sales leaders/GMs.  The role will be measured on KPIs relative to cost saving, quality/innovation delivery and timing of deliverables.

Lead Development of Strategic Sourcing Practice

  • Develop best practices for strategic sourcing including a roadmap with Category Management leadership for short, mid and long-term initiatives.
  • Develop best practice in baseline and RFP development.
  • Build templated approach for sourcing activities and matrix to evaluate supplier submissions.
  • Refine supplier agreement templates.
  • Develop KPI tracking for sourcing activities.

Lead Strategic Sourcing Key Projects

  • Through assignment in high impact priorities, lead the sourcing efforts on a category or sub-category with intent of delivering a multi-year awarded with cost savings and strong product positioning.
  • Includes project definition, management and engagement with Category and Sales owners.

Support Strategic Sourcing Smaller Efforts

  • Engage with Category Management team in ensuring strategic sourcing tools and process are followed are smaller sourcing activities.
  • Support supplier evaluation process.
  • Intent is to support 3-4 small projects concurrent with larger strategic sourcing projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • College degree required in business or related courses.
  • 10+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing and procurement.
  • 5 years’ experience in project management.
  • 3 years’ experience in business intelligence / reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in high impact supplier awards.
  • Experience with private brand a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft applications experience with reporting tool experience.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of organization.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to present findings to leadership and implement findings across cross-functional peer groups.
