Piper Sandler is currently seeking a Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Specialist in Minneapolis, MN.  This position will report to the Business Continuity & IT Controls Manager.  The primary function of this role is to collaborate with department leads to develop and implement plans to anticipate, address, and mitigate the effects of various business interruptions.  This includes maintaining and testing of plans to manage a crisis event, as well as meet compliance requirements.


  • Develop, maintain and implement Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions. 
  • Review, revise and expand existing plans for maturity including:
    • Risk assessments
    • Business Impact Analyses
    • Disaster Recovery Procedures
    • Business Continuity
  • Act as a coordinator for Disaster Recovery efforts during/after a disruption event
  • Facilitate Vendor Questionnaires  (BCP/Disaster Recovery)
  • Interact with critical business units to ensure regular updates to plans, and follow best practices
  • Annual testing of Business Continuity Preparedness plans
  • Facilitate annual testing of off-site recovery center, and ensure DR images are up-to-date per BCP plan
  • Maintain and periodic testing of call tree to ensure appropriate communication during a disaster
  • Help manage annual budget
  • Help create and administer training related materials and presentations to create awareness
  • Maintain Critical Applications list
  • Maintain the Office Emergency Plan
  • Help expand the Technology Change Control processes


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to work independently
  • Financial Services background preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Concepts
  • Willingness to travel as needed
