FuseFX is seeking a talented and experienced FX Artist, with a background in television and/or feature film VFX, to join our creative team in New York!

The FX Artist will work within Houdini to create a wide range of photo realistic VFX, including oceans, fire, smoke, destruction, and more as part of a fast-moving team.

FuseFX is an award-winning Visual Effects Studio providing visual effects services for episodic television, feature films, commercials, virtual productions, and VR. Founded in 2006, the company employs 1200+ personnel across eight studio locations and three brands. Our flagship studio is in Los Angeles, CA, with locations in New York City, Vancouver, BC., and Atlanta. Our Montreal, Toronto, and Bogota studios are serviced by FOLKS VFX, who joined FuseFX in 2020. The Adelaide, Australia studio is serviced by Rising Sun Pictures, who joined FuseFX in 2021.


  • Build and maintain photo-real FX rigs of varying complexity
  • Accountable for on time, on budget, high quality execution and delivery
  • Provide clear communication of work processes and progress between team members
  • Deliver FX to the lighting team to ensure smooth integration of FX elements
  • Keep up-to date on current industry technologies and techniques

Traits of a successful FuseFX FX Artist:

  • Excellent Houdini skills using Pyro, FLIP, Vellum, RBD, particles, fur and hair tools, muscles, terrains and ocean toolkit is preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of Mantra and Redshift lighting and rendering workflows with an emphasis on photorealism is preferred
  • Experience in creating effects such as fire, smoke, destruction, explosions, mist, dust, or similar
  • Thorough understanding of simulation techniques and technologies relating to effects
  • Understanding of physics, realistic motion, and assorted natural phenomena at different scales
  • Ability to work well with a team as well as having individual eye for quality
  • Must be able to perform under tight deadlines
  • Previous film industry and/or television experience is preferred
  • Any prior knowledge of 3DSMAX is a plus
