Rigging Artist

Folks Mumbai is seeking talented Rigging Artists to join our creative team across all levels!

From the very beginning, we have been passionate about capturing the imagination. Based in Montréal, Toronto, Bogotá, Saguenay, and now in Mumbai, the artists who bring their rich and diverse experiences to our team have been making larger-than-life visual effects for film and television for the past 10 years.



  1. Create realistic advanced rigs for various characters, creatures, and props inside Maya.
  2. Perform rig maintenance and fixes during production as requested.
  3. Assist in the creation of new rig component development.
  4. Follow Supervisor directions, ensuring rigs created are accurate and effective for animation needs.
  5. Maintain a desire to deliver consistently high-quality aesthetic and technical work while encouraging colleagues to strive for the same standards.
  6. Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment to deliver consistently high-quality work and troubleshoot technical problems on assigned rigging tasks.
  7. Should effectively execute all necessary assigned tasks while under tight production schedule deadlines
  8. Interface effectively with artists in other departments to ensure the seamless integration of work between disciplines.
  9. Sharp organizational and time management skills, able to engage in varied projects simultaneously while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and working towards deadlines.


Required Skills and Experience:

  1. 5+ years of experience rigging humanoids, animals, creatures, vehicles, props, and other assets using Maya in a production environment.
  2. Knowledge of anatomy and an understanding of bio-mechanics for humanoids, animals, and other creatures.
  3. Strong understanding of animation needs regarding functionality, feature set, evaluation speed, rig controls, and artist interactivity.
  4. Strong background in facial rigging and integration of motion capture data with rigs.
  5. Experience developing or using tools, custom deformers & PSD systems.
  6. Thorough knowledge of weighting and skinning.
  7. Demonstrated ability to rig in a realistic, non-cartoon, manner.
  8. Experience with the opensource mGear framework is strongly desired
  9. Experience with Python and Mel scripting languages is strongly desired
  10. Experience with Ziva Dynamics or other muscle and skin systems is desired
  11. Experience with PyQT/PySide is a plus.
  12. Strong creative and technical abilities.
  13. Excellent problem-solving skills.
  14. Positive attitude and team motivator.
  15. Ability to work in and lead a team environment and remotely across studio locations.
